General Business License
In order to effectively protect the public health, general welfare, and safety of the citizens of Cook County, businesses operating in Unincorporated Cook County are required to obtain a Cook County General Business License.
This requirement allows the County Government to ensure businesses operating in Unincorporated Cook County are in compliance with public health and public safety standards, as well as all other County ordinances. This will protect consumers from bad business practices and prevent illegal businesses from negatively influencing legitimate commerce.
There is a fee of $40.00 per license for a 2 year period. The new license period is effective from March 1, 2017 through February 28, 2019. If you fail to purchase your General Business License by March 1, 2017 there will be a penalty of $40.00 that is assessed in addition to the regular License fee.
